Congratulations to ProperData team members for receiving invitations to present their research at the FTC’s seventh annual PrivacyCon 2022.

Johanna Gunawan, graduate student at Northeastern in PI Choffnes’ group, will be presenting , “A Comparative Study of Dark Patterns across Mobile and Web Modalities”. Additionally, Piotr Sapiezynski, research scientist in Co-PI Mislove’s group, will be presenting, “Measuring Biases in Data Broker’s Coverage”.

UC Irvine’s Rahmadi Trimananda, project scientist in PI Markopoulou’s group, will present, “OVRSeen: Auditing Network Traffic and Privacy Policies in Oculus VR”.

And post doc Umar Iqbal from the University of Washington will be presenting, “Your Echos are Heard: Tracking, Profiling, and Ad Targeting in the Amazon Smart Speaker Ecosystem”. This is work lead by Umar in a cross-institution collaborative effort between PIs Choffnes, Shafiq, and Markopoulou groups.

The FTC will host PrivacyCon 2022 virtually on November 1, 2022. Presentation times and details to come shortly.
