ProperData will be hosting our second Privacy and IoT Research Exploration Workshop this summer from June 20 through July 1st, 2022. Programming will take place at the UCI campus, Monday- Friday and will be a collaborative effort between SaTC Frontier PIs and graduate students and UCI’s Office of Access and Inclusion.

The project builds on outreach activities based on privacy and security research carried by the SaTC Frontier, in order to engage and recruit undergraduates from underrepresented groups such as women, Latinx/Hispanics, Blacks/African Americans, Native Americans, people with disabilities, and people of low socioeconomic status in CS research.

Program dates: June 20 –  July 1, 2022

Location: University of California Irvine, with an option for remote participation available

Funding: funded by the National Science Foundation through the ProperData project. Funding will be provided for travel and accommodation of non-local participants.

Please note: you will need to complete your application once you start as you cannot save and return. Consider writing your statement of purpose beforehand and copying and pasting into application when ready.

Statement of Purpose: Provide a brief summary of your career goals, your interests in engineering and/or computer science, and why you would like to participate in the 2022 Privacy and IoT Research Exploration Workshop 2 at UCI. Please limit your essay to 500 words or less.

Requirements:

• Be an undergraduate student at a 2-year institution or at one of the following 4-year institutions:
  • UC Irvine, UC Davis, Northeastern University, or University of Southern California
• Available for the duration of the entire program (June 20- July 1st, M-F, 9am-3pm @ UCI campus)
• No prior experience needed
• Submit statement of purpose of 500 words or less in online application
